"Now as an elder myself and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as one who shares in the glory to be revealed, I exhort the elders among you (2) to tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it - not for sordid gain but eagerly. (3)Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock." 1Peter 5. 1-3
The Shepard Plan
The Constitution of our Church says, "It is the duty of elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation commited to their charge...should encourage the people in the worship and service of God, equip and renew them for their tasks with the church and for the mission in the world, visit and comfort and care for the people, with special attention to the poor, the sick, the lonely, and those who are oppressed...should inform the pastor and session of those persons and structures which any need special attention."
