Lenten Season Activities:
Many worship and fellowship activities are planned for the upcoming Lenten Season.  We will again celebrate the season with Wednesday night suppers, special music and conversations.

Lenten Sundays and Good Friday will feature members of the congregation doing readings from “A Journey through Lent.”  Pam Harbaugh is coordinating the performances. (Thank you, Pam.)   These presentations focus on explanations of the symbols of Easter:  the cross, basin and towel, wheat and grapes, the money bag, nails, palms and the crown of thorns.  Presentations will be given on March 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, 17 and Good Friday, April 22.

Mark your calendars now and join us for an inspiring and renewing Easter season.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. During the service, the minister marks a cross of ashes on the forehead of each participant, symbolizing repentance.

2010 Ash Wednesday is March 9th at 6:30 P.M.

Lenten services are held each Wednesday during the season of Lent and supper is provided by various church committees. Lenten Supper/Service are held in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 P.M. on March 16th, March 23rd, March 30th, April 6th and April 13th. Our theme this year will focus on our church's 2013 Jubilee Celebration and visions for our future. An offering will be collected to reimburse the host committee and any money left over will be donated to the N.E.E.D. food bank.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday celebrates the institution of the Lord’s Supper. During the Maundy Thursday service we share a fruit, bread and cheese supper and will, on occasion, present a re-enactment of the Last Supper.

2011 Maundy Thursday service is April 21st with the Agape dinner at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the service at 7:00 PM. Communion will be served by intinction. This method of serving Communion is the action of breaking the bread and dipping it into the cup of wine or juice and then partaking of that as one piece.

Tenebrae or Good Friday

Good Friday commemorates Jesus’ arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death. The church interior is draped in black, and lighting (including candles) are extinguished during the service.

2011 Good Friday is April 22nd at 7:00 PM.

Easter Sunrise Service

Sunrise service celebrates the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. The service is held outside on the church grounds, weather permitting. In inclement weather, the service will be brought indoors into the Fellowship Hall.

2011 service is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. on April 24th. Come prepared with your lawn chairs and warm blankets for extra comfort if the service is held outdoors. Communion will be served by intinction.

After the service, breakfast is being provided by the Congregational Nurture Committee.

Easter Sunday Service

During the regular service, fresh flowers are used to adorn a wooden cross that was used in the preceding weeks as a collage was built of Lenten symbols. Please bring fresh cut flowers to share. Communion will be served during the Worship Service.

2011 Easter is April 24th.

Season of Advent

Christmas Eve

The 2011 Cantata date will be announced in the Fall.
